Friends of Alban
Welcome to Friends, we are a small and hardworking group dedicated to supporting the school through various functions and fundraising events.
As a parent or carer of an Alban pupil you become an automatic member, how much you get involved is entirely up to you.
Please do support us at our forthcoming fundraising events (click here for details) or come along to our next meeting & social on Tuesday 9th January 2018 at the Wheatsheaf Pub, Tempsford.
Chair’s Report 3rd October 2017
It has been a very difficult and emotional year for everyone involved with Alban with exceptional levels of uncertainty – culminating in the closure of Alban later this year. The Friends of Alban would like to say a massive thank you to all staff and volunteers for their amazing dedication to the school.
In tandem with everything that has been going on, Friends have had another busy year raising funds we started with the fun run in 2016, then the November Disco and the Christmas Fayre. All of which went very well. We did note that there was reduced footfall at the Christmas Fayre but fundraised income was still excellent.
We ran our second year of Fish & Chip Bingo which was very successful and was very well attended. The fish & chips weren’t up to par so it has been decided to change our provider next year. Fish & chip tasting night to be arranged! The quiz evening in March was great fun and again, lots of people came along to support us. As always, there was lots of healthy competition!!!
The Crazy Evening of Summer fun in May was an enormous success – despite the challenges we faced with the weather and late arrival of equipment etc. The children had a super time and thankfully weren’t affected by the stresses of the organisers! We are looking forward to organising the biggest and best this year – so Mr Chipperton PLEASE sort the weather out!
A huge thank you to everyone who has helped to make this year’s Friends of Alban such a great team to be part of. We have had a few changes over the year and said good bye to Liz as Co-Chair – but she has continued to be part of the team – for which we are very grateful. We have also said goodbye to some very long-standing members of Friends and welcomed back some who had the opportunity to leave as their children have moved on – but have chosen to stay with us for our final year!
Everyone plays their part – however big or small in Friends and we are truly grateful for any help/support we receive. We are so very lucky with the support we receive from our Staff at Alban - they really embrace our fundraising activities - with special thanks to Mr Wood and Frank as well. Without the support of the school there would be no 'Friends of Alban' - so thank you.
